Engine: Game Maker: Studio
Genre: Exploration / Decision Making
Duration: 3 Weeks
In 2016 I worked in Game Maker: Studio because I was working on proving my thesis; if different kind of framing of goal and information does have an impact in how the player interacts with the game. What I learned from this project was to set up my own goals and to be self-disciplined when working on a project on your own. But I also learned how to analyze and interpret when other people were testing the game since that was something that happened a lot during this project. I also improved my skills when it comes to understand and write code since I wrote the whole game in GML, which is Game Maker: Studios own programming language.
I also got more familiar with Game Maker: Studio and I also created the graphics and learned to do the animation for it.
Gamer Mode is a game where you play as a man who apparently is important and good when it comes to making a different kind of decisions. In the game, you will be able to collect points, by making choices and doing actions that will help your career. But you can also help other people in the game which will make you lose your points. The gameplay changes from sidescrolling, top-down and a dialogue centered perspective.
